Aishwarya Rai appeared in film Jodhaa Akbar (2008), which was commercially successful and got her critical acclaim. She played the role of Jodha Bai, wife of Mughal emperor Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar, played by Hrithik Roshan. Aishwarya earned her eighth nomination for Best Actress at the Filmfare for her performance.
